Thousands of years have past since a once thriving human race was
pushed to the edge of extinction by their own bio-weapons, genetically
altered creatures of their own creation who eventually turned against them.
Humans live in constant fear and struggle with the creatures endlessly, just
trying to regain some of their lost power.
***Panzer Dragoon Zwei happens around this time***
After many years the humans began to adapt to their new lifestyle and
tamed some of the more docile creatures, such as Coolias which were small
harmless creatures used for manual labor and as single rider transportation.
The villages that raised the Coolias had an extremely strict set of rules
regarding the creatures as many mutant Coolias were being born with a strange
blue-white light in their throats and, not taking any chances, were instantly
killed by the villagers. They were believed to be a bad omen and very
dangerous.
All that were born were killed...except one...
A young man named Lundi has secretly gone against the village code and
raised a mutant Coolia with the infamous blue-white (it looks green to me)
light. He couldn't bring himself to kill the young Coolia and even gave him a
name...Lagi. Lagi was also the first mutant Coolia that Lundi had seen that
had a second mutation...wings. When Lagi was born it had tiny budding wings
which were now growing bigger as Lagi grew at an alarming rate. Lundi dreamed
that maybe someday he and Lagi would fly in the air together and go on wild
adventures and he could show Lagi to his village and convince them not to kill
mutant Coolias anymore. Unknown to him his dream was about to come true.
One day when Lagi was older and stronger, Lundi took him out to test his wings on an outcropping near his village called Elpis. Over and over Lagi tried, running faster and faster, sometimes picking up a gust of wind and gliding just above the ground. On one try Lagi picked up tremendous speed and nearly lifted completely up off of the ground when a great white flash of light engulfed Elpis Village ahead, leaving nothing but rubble when it subsided. They looked up to see an enormous white ship directly overhead, now turning and flying away. Lundi had seen various Imperial battleships fighting in the sky from a distance before but nothing like white craft before him.
Lundi didn't know why the ship destroyed his small village but he did
know what he needed to do. Lagi let out a sad cry and fired mythical "light
arrows" from his throat at the ship to Lundi's amazement. Lagi was more
special then he even imagined. He also knew his dream of an adventure was
about to come true.
Without any second thought Lundi and Lagi decide to follow
the enormous white ship that murdered so many of his friends
and family with the simple task of revenge on Lundi's mind.
Their chase took them right through the rubble of the village
where Lundi found a working gun among the wreckage. After
entering the village a mysterious dragon showed up and then
attacked Lagi, clipping him in the air after taking flight
to chase after the white ship. Was the other dragon
protecting the ship?
A little before the attack on his village in the Empire's
Capital City of Teito, the Emperor had decided to make his
move and chase the mysterious white ship that had also been
sighted by them for reasons only the Emperor knew.
It was later theorized after an investigation that the
Shellcoof, the name that was given to the ancient white ship,
seemed to react to the presence of all the Coolias in the
village and attacked them. Later the Shellcoof was also
basically accepted as being a floating Tower and the Guardian
Dragon was it's protector.
Revenge was the only thing on Lundi's mind. Deciding to
follow the ship no matter what he began his chase which ended
up going straight through a Meccania encampment. After
defeating a Transport Ship that bared their path they took to
the skies above a forest.
Being chased by a squad of ships, Lundi and Lagi entered the
forest below to escape. Some smaller ships followed them down
into the forest and were able to attack, though
unsuccessfully.
During the trek through the forest Lundi was attacked by
strange black ships and a terrifying creature called a Golia
Hunter. The black ships and the creature certainly weren't
Imperial ships, where did they come from and why?
Later Lundi realized that the Imperial's actually weren't
chasing him...they were after the white ship too. The Golia
Hunter and black ships were also assumed to be another type
of Guardian for the ship.
Lagi and Lundi then entered an ancient ruin at the edge
of the forest, not knowing of the hidden danger inside in the
form of it's ancient guardian that rested in the dark waters
of the ruins and it's other defensive creatures which were
believed to have been activated by the presence of the dragon
or the white ship. The ships nor the Guardian could match the
power of the mysterious dragon however and were soundly
defeated.
After exiting the ruins Lundi found himself over the
Georgius, an endless and snowy lake region near the Empire.
As soon as Lundi and Lagi flew over the Georgius they saw a
squad of Mecca ships get destroyed by the Shellcoof as well
as a new Guardian being released which turned it's attention
to them. A fierce and long battle ensued over the calm lake
but again the dragon was just to powerful for the Guardian.
With the Guardian out of the way there was only the Shellcoof
left to deal with. With a heavy heart Lundi pointed Lagi
towards the ship and knew now was the time to face their
destinies...
Getting close to the Shellcoof above the cloud line the dark
dragon from his village flew past them without attacking and
flew to the Shellcoof's underside. What was it doing and why
didn't it attack yet?
Despite being terrified of the power of the ancient age,
Lundi and Lagi launched an all out offensive against the
ship, attacking it head on. While fighting off a seemingly
endless onslaught of ships inside the flying Tower they
eventually made their way to a hatch on one side and
destroyed the Shellcoof's rudders on one side, severely
limiting it's ability to maintain altitude but not
completely disabling it.
Once exiting the Shellcoof onto it's underside, there was
something that looked like an cocoon hanging from it. Getting
closer to examine it, it cracked and revealed the flying
Tower's guardian, the Guardian Dragon, in a new form
awaiting a final showdown.
The Guardian Dragon, after morphing inside of the cocoon,
emerged in an awesome new form, darkening the clouds below
with its ominous shadow. A battle of legendary proportions
then took place with the Shellcoof slowly losing altitude
and falling below the cloud line.
2 powerful dragons...only one could be victorious...
The Shellcoof was still airborne after its rudders were
destroyed so Lagi used the last of his life force to destroy
it, sending it crashing down into the Georgius, after
teleporting Lundi safely to the ground. Images of the future
and past flashed through Lundi's head, but what did it mean?
Lundi later entered the Shellcoof's wreckage and found the
remains of Lagi embedded within the hull, deep in the depths
of the endless halls...his throat still glowing. Maybe Lagi
still had some life left...? Somehow Lundi knew Lagi would be
back someday so he decided to make preparations.
Lundi eventually joined a small group of people called the
Seekers whose ultimate goal was to destroy any new Towers
that appeared. Lundi chronicled his journey and left diaries
and notes for any new dragon riders that might come after
him, still not knowing what the images that flowed into his
head from the dragon really meant.
***Panzer Dragoon Zwei happens around this time***
It was a losing battle until one day a faction of the humans, known as
the Imperials, found the secret weapon they hoped would give them the
upperhand once again...the Tower. The Imperials then used the ancient weapons
and devices inside the Tower to drive back some of the creatures and regain
some of their lost ground in the war for humanity. The Imperials couldn't
figure out how to operate the Tower itself though and it remained totally
dormant.
The Imperials became power hungry however and used the weapons found
within The Tower against the other surrounding nations with a goal nothing
short of world domination. Other nations eventually found ancient weapons
of their own and a seemingly endless series of wars took place.
Years later...a young man named Kyle (Ka-i-ru) from a small, unknown
village somewhere in the Great Plains was in a hunting party, scouting one of
the many canyons surrounding the Great Plains when a mysterious Imperial
battleship passed directly overhead to their amazement. While in awe over the
sight they were attacked by a group of Burrowers, killing one of the men in
his group. One of the burrowers started to escape so Kyle chased it through
numerous canyons until he reached one that he had never seen before to his
surprise. And at the end of it was an even greater surprise...the entrance to
an abandonded building of some sort...
After entering the building and exploring a little, Kyle was
attacked by a huge creature and just as he thought it was all over he was
saved from the beast by a blast from down the hall. Once outside he gazed up
into the bright, endless sky to see the unreal sight of 2 dragons engaged in a
spectacular air battle above his head. Just as he was begining to get his
barrings he watched as the blue dragon's rider's chest was peirced by a laser
bolt from the black dragon's rider, fataly wounding him. Without remorse, the
black dragon flew off into the sky until it disappeared from sight.
To Kyle's amazment the blue dragon landed before him and the dieing
rider held his hand out in desperate gesture for help and as Kyle touched
it their minds merged and many images flooded into his head along with a long
final image...the Tower. While staring at the picture of the Tower in his
head, Kyle faintly heard the words "don't...let him go back to The Tower...my
dragon...knows the way..."
Suddenly Kyle regained his own consiousness and watched as the rider
fell lifelessly to the ground, hearing a final word, "...please..." The blue
dragon let out an ear-peircing cry of mourning for its fallen rider then
slowly lowered it's head in Kyle's direction...waiting...
With the sky rider's weapon in hand, Kyle mounted the mysterious
dragon and with the fate of the world on his shoulders...he knew what he must
do...stop the Prototype/Dark Dragon.
After accepting his fate of riding the dragon and
understanding his task of stopping the Prototype Dragon from
reaching the Tower, Kyle (boring name...) and the Solo
Wing began their journey by passing over a lake, heading
towards the Empire's 9th excavation site and ultimately, the
Tower. The Empire, knowing the dragon would take this path,
sent a single Naraka class battleship to intercept it but
they didn't anticipate it's hidden power and it was easily
defeated. A single small fighter plane escaped the Naraka
ship destruction and secretly started to follow the Blue
Dragon.
With the single fighter plane still secretly following the
Blue Dragon, it passed over a desert area, fighting off the
natural creatures and even destroying some giant sand worms.
The aircraft pilot was amazed at the power of the Dragon as
it pretty much killed everything with ease. At the stormy end
of the desert he was even more amazed to see the other dragon
waiting for the Blue Dragon and a furious battle between the
two ensued. After both dragons relented, they both increased
their flying speed and took off in the direction of the 9th
excavation site. The fighter plane pilot couldn't keep up
with the dragon's new speed so he broke off the pursuit and
headed towards the Capital City of Teito to warn the Emperor
who then alerted units near the 9th excavtion site including
new ground units.
The Blue Dragon reached the outer area of the 9th excavation
site late at night as the Empire decided to try a mixture of
ground troops as well as the normal air units to stop the
dragon. They also had a new prototype combo weapon waiting
for the dragon at the end of the encampment but it also
failed, which the Empire decided was because of a problem in
the design philosophy and it was permanently ceased from
production. After defeating the Imperial weapon the Blue
Dragon entered the ruins...
The Blue Dragon then entered the 9th excavation site followed
by squardons of the Empire's finest in pursuit. Once inside
the ruins, strange ships were mysteriously activated and
attacked the Blue Dragon and it's rider. Later it was guessed
that the ships were guardians of the site and were awoken by
the presence of the dragon. Near the exit to the site the
dragon also encountered the ruins main guardian which was a
a bird-type guardian but again, the lone dragon's power was
to much for it. The next morning the Kotoda (?) arrived at
the site and picked up the survivors who then told the story
of what happened to the Imperials.
The Blue Dragon and Kyle reach the Teito early defensive
line over a forest...the Empire's final line of defense
before the Capital City. Almost all of the remaining Imperial
forces were gathered here and ordered to stop the dragon at
all costs including the Empire's largest flying stronghold.
The mysterious Blue Dragon plowed through ALL of the Empires
finest troops and after a heated battle with the flying
stronghold only the dragon was left standing. Afterwards the
Emperor decided to stop any and all pursuit of the dragon
after such miserable results not knowing of the attack about
to occur in the heart of their own Capital City...
As the two dueling dragons got closer and closer to the
Tower, a change started to occur in the activity level of the
Tower and its reactor's power level greatly increased,
eventually totally reactivating it. Suddenly an army of
bio-mechanical creatures emerged from the water surrounding
the Tower, blindsiding the Empire's fleet and destroying most
of the Capital City. The dragons fought throughout the city,
eventually reaching the Tower for the final showdown...It was
now apparent that the Prototype/Dark Dragon was the Tower's
guardian while the Blue Dragon was there to destroy it...
The Prototype Dragon, after reactivating the Tower with its
presence, morphs with the shell formed inside the Tower
creating a startling new creature and a monumental battle
began. Only the eye witness testimony of a few survivors knew
what happened and the remnants of the Empire oppressed their
stories as they didn't want people to know that nearly the
whole Empire was defeated by their stupidity of messing
with the Tower.
After defeating the Prototype/Dark Dragon, the Blue
Dragon teleported Kyle to saftey and completed its destiny
by destroying the Tower. Kyle lived the rest of his life
normally and eventually faded from memory, telling his story
only to a few friends.
***Panzer Dragoon Azel happens around this time***
Eventually the Empire created an Academy to study the ancient relics
at their new capital (the old capital city of Teito was destroyed in the last
dragon encounter years earlier) and had completed work on it's invincible
flying flagship, the Grig Orig.
Later at the 4th Excavation Site of the Empire, a young Imperial named
Edge was in a small group of men who?s job was to guard the site. He wasn't
happy about guarding it and didn't even know why they were assigned to
guard it but he was with friends including his Captain who had raised Edge as
his son and was secretly saving money for a good schooling for him.
Suddenly an ancient monster attacked from inside the site and Edge,
showing no fear, jumped into the fray to save his companions. After dueling
with the beast, his back was against a wall with the only way out through the
vicious beast ahead. Quickly raising its enormous claw in the air, the monster
shot its extendible claw out at Edge barely missing him and crumbling the wall
behind him. In a bright flash of luminous white light Edge and the
monster were stunned momentarily. Images rushed into Edge's head of a
beautiful but surreal girl and as he turned his head he saw...her...
His friends quickly yelled to him to snap him out of the trance he was
in as the monster was creeping forward again. Quickly turning Edge, grabbed a
rocket launcher and shot the bridge the monster was walking on, sending it
crashing into the black abyss below. Gathering up his wounded friends and
Captain they immediately headed for the exit.
Upon entering the vast sunlight a gun shot rang out and Edge watched
as his Captain fell motionlessly to the ground. He looked up and saw 3
Imperial soldiers, one of them a General, defiantly standing in front of them
with a fleet of black ships in the air. A fellow hunter and friend of Edges
was shocked and ran up to the men questioning what was going on. Why were
Imperials attacking Imperials? Before any answer could be given he was shot
dead.
Now irate, Edge ran up to the men not understanding anything that was
going on and was about to die in the same ruthless way his friends were but
the mysterious General stopped his associate. The Imperials walked past Edge
and headed for the blackness of the mine when Edge cryptically said something
was in there. The General, turning his head to Edge, emotionlessly said "You
saw her?" but as Edge was about to reply he was knocked out by a swift gun
handle to the head. What was so special about this girl that he saw?
Meanwhile, far away about the same time, an explosion disintegrated
the Empire's Capital City, destroying everything in it's wake. The Emperor,
not in the city as he was flying nearby in the invincible Grig Orig, saw the
chaos from afar and somehow knew who it was...Craymen, the General who leads a
small faction of ships called the Black Fleet against the Empire. Why did he
betray and fight against the Empire now?
Edge suddenly awoke to see the black ships flying away with the
encapsulated girl in tow. Running after the ships he ran across one of the
wooden bridges over the endless abyss and was stopped dead in his tracks by
the man who killed his friends. He then shot at Edge, knocking him into the
darkness below.
Miraculously Edge awoke in a pool of water still alive and seemingly
unhurt. How did he survive the gun shot and the long fall? Why did that
General want that mysterious girl so much as to murder innocent people in cold
blood? Somehow he knew the girl was the key to unraveling the mysteries set
before him...
